Best Hair Transplant Clinic in Bangalore
Hair loss is usually a gradual change. Most people notice it in photographs before they notice it in the mirror, and by the time they start looking seriously at options they have often been watching it for a year or more. A hair transplant is one way that loss can be addressed. It is a surgical procedure, which means it deserves a considered decision rather than a quick one.
This page covers what a hair transplant in Bangalore at Eugenix Hair Sciences involves, from your first consultation through to the growth you can expect over the following year.
Why patients choose Eugenix in Bangalore
Eugenix Hair Sciences performs Direct Hair Transplant, which we refer to as DHT. It is a modified form of FUE developed by our Co-Founders.
- Every procedure is doctor-led, and our team is a panel of experienced surgeons, personally handpicked and trained by our Co-Founders. Doctor-led at Eugenix means the lead surgeon does the planning and design, makes every recipient slit by hand, and sets every technical parameter for the procedure. Senior surgical assistants carry out scoring, extraction and implantation to those parameters, under supervision.
- Our Co-Founders, Dr Pradeep Sethi and Dr Arika Bansal, are Fellows of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and alumni of AIIMS, New Delhi, with 15+ years of experience each and 30+ years combined.
- As a clinic, Eugenix has completed more than 20,000 procedures over 15+ years.
- The protocols followed at our Bangalore clinic are the same ones used across our other locations.
What DHT is?
DHT stands for Direct Hair Transplant. It is a modified FUE technique developed at Eugenix. Like all FUE procedures, individual follicular units are taken from the donor area at the back and sides of the scalp, where hair is genetically resistant to the process that causes pattern hair loss, and placed into the areas where hair has thinned or receded.
Who is a candidate for a hair transplant?
Not everyone who is losing hair is a suitable candidate, and a consultation exists partly to establish that. The assessment usually considers the following.
- The pattern and stage of your hair loss, commonly described using the Norwood scale for men.
- Whether the loss has stabilised or is still progressing. Operating on active, early-stage loss can produce a result that looks uneven as the surrounding hair continues to thin.
- The density and quality of your donor area, which sets a practical limit on how many grafts are available.
- Your age, since planning for someone in their twenties has to account for loss that has not happened yet.
- Your general health and any medical conditions that affect healing.
- What you are hoping for, and whether that is achievable with the donor hair you have.
If a transplant is not the right option for you, our doctors will say so.
Your consultation, step by step
Assessment
The doctor examines your scalp, looks at the donor area and assesses the pattern of loss. Where relevant, further investigation may be advised to identify whether something other than pattern hair loss is contributing.
Planning
If you are a candidate, the doctor discusses what is realistic. This covers the areas that can be addressed, roughly how many grafts that would need, whether it can be done in one session, and the hairline design if the front is involved.
Questions
This is the point to ask about recovery, time away from work, aftercare and the growth timeline. Patients who come with questions written down tend to leave with a clearer picture.
The procedure day
A hair transplant is a day procedure. You arrive in the morning and leave the same day.
- The donor area is prepared and local anaesthetic is administered.
- The lead surgeon makes every recipient slit by hand first, setting the angle, direction and density across the area.
- Extraction and implantation then happen at the same time rather than one after the other.
- Because the slits are already made, grafts go straight from the donor area into the recipient site, keeping time outside the body to under thirty minutes.
- You are given aftercare instructions before you leave the OT.
This sequence is what separates DHT from standard FUE, where grafts are extracted first, held outside the body while recipient sites are created, and only then placed. Most patients find the day long rather than painful. Local anaesthetic is used throughout, and there are breaks.
Recovery and aftercare
Recovery follows a broadly predictable pattern, though it varies between individuals.
- First few days: some swelling and tenderness. Sleeping position matters.
- First week: crusting forms around the implanted grafts and gradually clears.
- First hair wash: done to a specific method and at a specific point, both of which the clinic will instruct you on.
- Days 30 to 90: transplanted hairs shed. This is expected and is not a sign that the procedure has failed.
- Month 4: new growth begins.
- Months 10 to 12: full results. The crown continues to mature through months 12 to 15.
