The significance of the DHT technique lies in its ability to improve graft survival rates. Studies have shown that grafts are most susceptible to damage during the time they are out of the body. By minimizing this ‘out of body’ time, the DHT method significantly reduces the risks associated with graft desiccation, mechanical trauma, and infection, which are common challenges in traditional methods.
